John Wick Trailer
What the movie is about?
The story revolves around John Wick who’s played by Keanu Reeves. John’s wife died from cancer a few days ago and the first scene describe what must be a pretty uneventful life because he doesn’t seem to have family or friend of any sort. His only hobby as far as they show is to drive his vintage mustang but all that is about to change when he receive a gift from his late wife, a dog. At first, John seems to be what we could best describe as most uncomfortable around it but soon become very attached. After all, he is his only company day after day.
The major turn of event present itself in the form of a young punk named Iosef who also is the son of NYC Russian Mob, Viggo. He meet John at a gas station and become immediately enamoured by John’s Vintage Mustang. He offer to buy it but is met with John strong refusal. Sadly, it seems like that punk doesn’t understand the meaning of no because the same day, he and his friend attack John’s house and steal his car not without beating him and killing his dog. That’s right, he even killed his dog, what an asshole.
The action’s of Isosef come to the attention of Viggo, his father, and he his quick to learn that the actual car belong to John Wick, who is also one of his old friend. An assassin that used to work for the family and who gained his freedom by killing every adversary of the family as a parting gift. Viggo try to appease John anger but John want retribution. The action now begin as Iosef is hunted down while his bodyguards all die during epic gun and knives fights.
What I liked about the movie
Light, full of action, great gun shot scenes and the actors are all great and fulfil their roles with magnificent ease. There is no drama, no real love story, in the present at least and a good ending based on an old western movie.
What I didn’t like about it
The whole story and motivation of our main character is pretty bare when it comes to it and the acting potential of this great cast of actors is surely not used to full capacity.
Should you go see it? 7.5/10
If you are the kind of person who like fast-paced action movie with lot of gun scenes, John Wick is your movie. All in all, it’s a great evening movie accompanied by popcorn and a drink, preferably coke.
For those of you who like movie with a little more backbone, drama, and put special interest in the talent of the actors, than I suggest you look elsewhere. The story is pretty much just an excuse for a killing machine to wreak havoc upon those who dared trouble his calm and peaceful life. Seriously, killing at least 50 people because some punk killed your dog. Really?
After reading your review Simon, I watch the movie and love it.
I am glad you liked it.
