Blader Runner Sequel – Quebec Director Denis Villeneuve on board!
It was announced today that the French Canadian Director Denis Villeneuve, known for Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, will be the director of the Blade Runner Sequel. The first movie, a classic of 1982, was directed by Ridley Scott and had two Academy Awards nominations. Harrison Ford confirmed that he will be back as Rick Deckard. Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, who worked with Villeneuve on Prisoners as co-founders of the company that produced the movie, brought the rights for the sequel. Filming is set to begin summer 2016.
Until then, Villeneuve movie Sicario is set to be in theaters on September 18. The cast is composed of Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin, and talks about a young female FBI agent who joins a secret CIA operation to take down a Mexican cartel boss, a job that ends up pushing her ethical and moral values to the limit.
