Star Wars Episode VIII release date + news on a Star Wars spinoff!
Even though Star Wars Episode VII is not due to be release before Christmas 2015, it was announced that Star Wars Episode VIII will be release on May 26, 2017 (forty years plus one day after A New Hope came out in theaters), with Episode IX following two years later. Those two movies will be directed and written by Rian Johnson (Looper).
A Star Wars spinoff will also be made; it is going to be a movie about other characters of the saga that should be release in December 2016 with Rogue One for the name. For those who know less about Star Wars, the title Rogue One makes a reference back to the end of the very first Star Wars. After the Yavin battle and the destruction of the Death Star by the X-Wing, some of the rebels are selected to create an elite team of the best pilots, this team was named Rogue Squadron. If you remembered, Luke Skywalker was a member of this team. We call Rogue One the leader of this squadron. Rogue Squadron was present for the Hoth battle at the beginning of the Episode V and the Endor battle at the end of Episode 6.
For now, only Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) as officially announced that she will be a part of the cast. Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) will be the director and it will be written by Chris Weitz (Cinderella).
