On October 1, 2012, it was reported that the script was complete and that the original actors, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, would reprise their roles, despite Carrey having temporarily withdrawn his involvement in June 2012 due to concerns that Warner Bros. had shown little enthusiasm for the sequel, and Daniels threatening to back out of the sequel if it did not include Carrey.
What the movie is about
Dumb and Dumber To start back 20 years after the last scene of the first movie bringing us back the good old comedy classic Dumb And Dumber. Lloyd has been in what seem like a lethargic state and force to be taken care in a long-term health facility. Harry come by every week to take care of him and try to persuade him to come back to his sense but little does he know, Lloyd is actually faking and has played a 20-year-old trick on him. Soon after the gag is over, Harry tell Lloyd that he’s actually very sick and that he needs a kidney transplant otherwise he’ll die. Soon ensure a race to find the long-lost daughter of Harry so that she can give him her precious kidney. The following adventures will lead you to the same great and funny jokes that Dumb and Dumber one is known for. Enjoy!
What I liked about it
The movie is a great following to the first one and to those of you who missed those two crazy fools, you will be rewarded with the same great humour and teamwork. Stereotypes, racism and all other taboo subject are used as material for jokes and they did a pretty good job at it too. Also, the conclusion of the hunt for Penny and the discovery of her true parentage is well thought of.
What I didn’t like about it
A little too much like the first one. Its more like a simple continuity to the first one which is not bad but I would have expected a little more new material. Either way, it was very funny. At some times during the film, you can easily see past villains impersonated by new actors but with the same back story which I found a little distracting. Example of such time: Joe(1994)/Travis(2014)
Should you go see it
If you liked the first movie, I recommend seeing the second one just so that you might reconnect with two of the best comedians out there. It’s a great continuity to Harry, Lloyd and all the other personage that populated Dumb and Dumber. Take two hours of you day or night and go see it. I promise you lots and lots of laughers.
